Spittal Community Centre

2024 - 2025

Following the closure of St Paul’s Church, Main Street, Spittal in February 2024, Spittal Improvement Trust took over the premises and is currently renting the building and adjacent hall with a view to raising funds to purchase from the Synod of the United Reformed Church. The building is now known as Spittal Community Centre.

The building has a working clock which still chimes. However, the original winding mechanism which needs winding twice a week recently stopped working. The specialist company who regularly serviced the clock managed to get it going again but advised that the mechanism had more or less reached the end of its working life.

Berwick Preservation Trust were approached and agreed to match fund the cost of the replacement of the original winding mechanism with a new "electric auto winding unit". These works have been successfully completed with the original mechanism now on display within the building.
